Amar'e Stoudemire throws shade at Carmelo Anthony prior to Knicks game vs. Heat: Amar'e Stoudemire is depressed about the state of a franchise he left in the hands of Carmelo Anthony. I'm assuming they were all Miami Heat fans. Whatever the coaching strategy is for this team going forward, I have to believe this team is looking somewhere I'm not even seeing right now.
New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams (23) goes up for a shot against Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier during the third quarter of an NBA basketball game, Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, in New York. "I was surprised. I was surprised, very surprised".
By the end of the game, they grew louder. It has led to interest from other teams and speculation that Anthony may waive his no-trade clause in the summer, despite pledging loyalty to New York. They were dominated by the Heat, 98-81, and lost for the 14th time in 17 games.
"How can you not hear that?"
Calderon did a decent Curry impersonation in the opening minutes, making his first five shots for 10 points midway through the first quarter. For example, when explaining the team's failure before his contract buyout, Stoudamire says "I think maybe three-fourths of the team thought [the Triangle] was great".
"It's challenging to kind of stay strong and positive through all this".
The Knicks aren't exactly doing so well, losing 13 of their last 15 games which could hurt their target of snagging a playoff berth.
"No. Heck no", said Carmelo, shooting down any rumors that he may have been on the move this season. That's going to put more pressure on him. Calderon had an off night, which hurt the offense more than probably anything else because the spacing was ruined by his inability to hit open shots, but he wasn't alone. Hassan Whiteside had 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
Anthony scored 25 points. Jose Calderon, Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo all finished with 14.
Anthony has had to sit out seven games this season - all losses - and was kept out of Saturday's practice session. "That's why I'm here today, so I owe a lot to this organization". I couldn't find my rhythm and that was the tough part about his game. "So we've got the Knicks, we've got Philly".
It's been a rough stretch for the Knicks. But while he was recovering from the surgery - hoping to help the Knicks in the playoffs - he expressed his love for the team. "I don't know. I don't have no comment about that", Anthony said.
"To me, it's this mindset that you have and it's a cultural mindset that players have to live under and the expectations that they have to put on themselves". The Knicks recovered nicely to get within 23-19 after one.
While Anthony would have been the only superstar who saw the spotlight shifted away from him at the rise of "Linsanity", Anthony said he didn't think Stoudemire was talking about him being disgruntled with Lin.
