"James is an experienced National Hockey League goaltender who will help add to our depth at that position as we head down the stretch run of the season", Wilson said in a statement. The Kladno, Czech Republic, native had one, goal, two assists and four penalty minutes in 22 games with the Anaheim Ducks this season.

Reimer was drafted in the fourth round by the Leafs in 2006.

Before the trade to the Sharks, there was an attempt made to re-sign Reimer to a reasonable contract. The Sharks acquired Smith in a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks at the trade deadline last season, but he had trouble cracking the lineup this year after battling concussion symptoms for roughly two months from mid-October to mid-December. "We didn't really play a good game up to that point", said Pavelski, who scored his team-leading 27th goal and added an assist for the Sharks. There's a reason, too, that they'll be cheering for him in San Jose.

That's where Reimer comes in.

James Reimer has always been a good soldier for the Maple Leafs.

No captain. No one with more than 308 games played - less than four seasons - as a Leaf. In nearly every case, that's a very good thing considering how sordid the Leafs recent track record is.

He was talking about the road the Maple Leafs have started on and stopped himself mid-sentence.

In return, the Leafs will receive goalie Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2018.

Yet, now that Reimer is a San Jose Shark, Bernier was quite complimentary of his time sharing the crease with Reimer. The production continued in 2009-10, with P-A accumulating 45 points in 35 games with Hartford.

All three new players are slated to become unrestricted free agents this summer, as Wilson continued to bulk up his roster for the short term and Toronto general manager Lou Lamoriello continues his long rebuild, with a host of pending UFAs still to deal before Monday's deadline.

Alex Stalock is more interesting.

Pierre-Alexandre spent the next two seasons with QMJHL Chicoutimi and Sherbrooke, producing slightly below two points-per-game. The value of the UFA-to-be likely was higher earlier in the season, but diminished along with his shrinking save percentage (and ballooning goals-against average).

It's not clear exactly where both of these players will end up. He made 31 saves.

Parenteau should fetch the Islanders at least a second round pick considering that's what the Calgary Flames got for Jiri Hudler and the Edmonton Oilers got a third rounder for Teddy Purcell.

Montreal Canadiens' Devante Smith-Pelly (21) scores against Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier as Leafs' Mark Arcobello (33) defends during second-period NHL hockey game action in Montreal, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016. The 17th overall pick of the 2011 draft, Beaulieu suffered the injury during Monday's 2-1 shootout loss to Nashville and joins fellow defensemen Jeff Petry (sports hernia) and Tom Gilbert (knee) on the sideline.
