Zendaya confirms her role in the new 'Spider-Man' movie

The "Shake It Up" actress told Ellen that she is part of the "Spider-Man 2017" film, but can not say anything about the film, other than she is part of the cast.

Though she couldn't share any details of the upcoming movie (film dates haven't even been released yet!), Variety reports that even though Zendaya isn't playing the new Peter Parker's love interest, her part is going to be big.

Ever since Tom Holland was announced as the man (teen boy) who would take over the Spider-Man crown for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, excitement for the reboot has been huge.

While she made a name for herself on the Disney channel, Zendaya is making her way to becoming a household name.

Many are also of the opinion that hiring Zendaya is a clear sign that both Sony and Marvel Studios are clearly putting great efforts into shifting the MCU elements into high gear. I've never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else.

Ellen asked when the movie starts shooting and Zendaya said, "I have no idea". She auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and broke down the walls to shut down the pre-conceived notion of who she was based on previous things that she has done on TV. Jon Watts is set to direct the movie, with a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.
