Welcome to this week's assumptive WWE Smackdown spoilers report.
Featuring WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz, Zack Ryder, and AJ Styles, here's what went down. Ryder wanted a rematch, but he was already scheduled to face Baron Corbin.
Baron Corbin defeated Zack Ryder. Shane McMahon made the match last night at the beginning of the show to see who would challenge the new champ at Payback.
The results of the Tag Team Tournament matches shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. They'll face The Dudley Boyz next.
The number one contender for Roman Reigns' WWE championship gained momentum on this week's episode of SmackDown.
- AJ Styles def. Alberto Del Rio with a roll up not long after what appeared to be a messed up spot where he may have hurt his neck.
Later in the show, fellow former NXT Tag Team Champions The Vaudevillians also advanced to the next round.
The recent NXT call-ups are set for a match against the Usos in the semifinals, but that could be in question after Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows beat the Samoan brothers down after their first-round match.
Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho ended in a disqualification when Kevin Owens interfered after getting off commentary. Despite an entertaining match, Owens' interference led to the match ending by disqualification. Dean Ambrose was on commentary as well.
A match between Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho is destined to be a guaranteed classic. Naturally, somebody interrupts and that somebody is none other than Zack Ryder.
The tag-team tournament to determine the No. 1 contender for New Day's WWE Tag Team Championship continued on "SmackDown" with Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady making their main roster in-ring debut against former NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension. But there's a backstage bit with them interacting with Fandango!
"WWE SmackDown" airs weekly on Thursdays on the USA Network at 8 p.m. EST.
