According to a statement put out by the son-in-law of Charles Kushner-Jared's father-the potential purchase of the Marlins is off if Loria is nominated by the White House for the prestigious role.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Loria was under consideration by the Trump Administration to be the United States ambassador to France.
The Kushner family has dialed down its interest in buying the Miami Marlins now that reports have surfaced claiming the baseball franchises current owner will likely be named the US ambassador to France. "The Kushners remain interested in purchasing a team and would love to buy the Marlins at another time", Joseph Meyer, Kushner's son-in-law, said in the statement.
It was the first confirmation of the Kushners' efforts to buy the team since Forbes and other media outlets reported last week that Loria had a preliminary agreement with a NY businessman, believed to be Joshua Kushner, to sell the Marlins for about $1.6 million.
That Loria is being considered for US ambassador to France was reason to cease talks, the group said in a statement to the New York Times.
A spokesman for the Miami Marlins declined to comment on whether Loria is seeking an ambassadorship while trying to sell the Marlins.
Jared Kushner, who is married to Ivanka Trump, is not believed to part of the recent effort to the buy team.
The Kushner family said in a statement Wednesday night that the sale might "complicate" the appointment.
The New York Post reported Wednesday that the 76-year-old art dealer is under consideration for a role in the Trump administration as US ambassador to France. It has been decided that Charles Kushner, the patriarch of the family and a real estate mogul, would not be involved in the purchase. In 2016, Loria also gave $33,400 to the Republican National Committee and $84,660 combined to 20 state Republican Party groups. If Loria becomes President Donald Trump's embassador to France, there is no deal.
