But, while the demand and anticipation for the device were high, the device is starting to have troubles. Bixby is able to control nearly all functions on the Galaxy S8, such as launching the photo album, creating new albums, casting content to a nearby TV and adjusting various settings.
A number of customers who preordered the Galaxy S8 wrote on online communities that their new phones have a reddish screen that did not improve even after correcting the color display settings. However, some Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners weren't able to adjust the colors on their screens, as they came already optimized.
One user told the publication: "After I read articles that there are many reddish panels, I checked mine". A user can communicate with his device through speaking different commands.
The scale of the problem or its cause is not yet known. But the early users of the Galaxy S8 have reported a minor yet serious issue with their handsets.
Samsung supposedly developed deep red OLEDs to strengthen the red component and counteract the two greens in the mix.
A Samsung spokesperson confirmed the red display issue. The voice-assistant aims to take on the likes of Apple Siri, Google Assistant and Microsoft Cortana. The company also faced supply shortages a year ago when it sold the Galaxy Note 7, resulting in delayed shipments. Maybe, maybe not - but either way Samsung is going to make sure that the Bixby button stays a Bixby button. And in a tweet confirming the software update, a Samsung spokesman described the ability to remap the Bixby button as "exploiting a system level behavior".
Philip Berne, head of Samsung PR in the States says: we wont officially support such a remapping feature. At the same time, the prototypes showed no rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, lending credence to the claim that Samsung would launch the Galaxy S8 with in-display fingerprint authentication.
