Samsung's Galaxy S8 facial recognition feature can be fooled with a photo

"As more super widescreen Android devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6, become available, you'll have more opportunities to display more content and create more engaging experiences with your app".

Samsung has said in the past that its Face Unlock feature isn't created to be the most secure option, rather as a convenient alternative to entering a code or using your fingerprint, and has prevented the tech being used for mobile payments.

Samsung's newest security feature can easily be fooled. Then again most people are going to be sold when they look at the screen.

With the new Bixby AI, however, Samsung wishes to change the past. Will you be swapping up your current phone for an S8? Both phones come with better and improved Iris scanner. Or maybe the distance that the phone was held from the camera?

It has a larger 5.8-inch screen than the iPhone 7 Plus' 5.5-inch screen, all while donning a smaller and more comfortable design. With the latest flagship duo, Samsung bid farewell to its flat screen and welcomes a tall, narrow device with two curved sides. Surprisingly, there's also a new feature that delivers Snapchat-like augmented reality filters to the viewfinder.

The YouTube video embedded below, recorded at the S8 launch event, shows the registered user of the device presenting a picture of himself to the phone's front-facing camera. We get the impression the phone was rushed a little towards the end, having already been postponed from February's MWC to a March launch, with the April availability date also pushed back a week.

There is also a Samsung S8 Microsoft version. This feature is created to turn a Galaxy S8 phone into a PC, along with Android apps all running in a desktop-like environment.
