Sofia Coppola's THE BEGUILED Gets a New Trailer

Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning Star In New Trailer For Sofia Coppola's THE BEGUILED

It's always a big deal when a new Sofia Coppola film is about to hit screens - a fact firmly established early on in the director's career thanks to the likes of Lost in Translation and The Virgin Suicides. Kidman plays the headmistress who finds the school's seclusion disrupted when a wounded soldier (Farrell), arrives and kicks off a yarn of seduction and jealousy.

"I haven't really done a genre film", she added.

Based on Thomas Cullinan 1966's novel A Painted Devil, The Beguiled has been selected to compete for the Palme d'Or in the Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival next month.

The Beguiled absolutely haunted me as a youth, and hopefully Coppola effectively captures the unsettling atmosphere (and eventual horror) that made the original a memorable experience. The film stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard, and Addison Riecke.

An injured Civil War soldier called John (Colin Farrell) stumbles upon an all-girls boarding school in the South, where the teachers and students nurse him to health. However, the home quickly becomes plagued with sexual tensions and unsafe rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.
