Warriors take 2-0 series lead on Blazers, win without Durant

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook (0) sits before game one of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.

As if that wasn't enough, Westbrook broke the record for the most triple-doubles in a single season with 42 and also claimed the league's scoring title.

Game 1: James Harden finished with 37 points, nine assists and seven rebounds to lead the Rockets, while backcourt mate Patrick Beverly poured in a playoff career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second career postseason double-double.

So, kudos to Westbrook, whose play mirrors that of Michael Jordan circa 1988, for delivering an outstanding season, and more props for the continued excellence during this post season. Russell Westbrook is averaging 36.5 points and 10 assists while Andre Roberson is averaging 15 points and eight rebounds. "It was a combination of things and our mental stamina needs to be a little better".

"Down the stretch you've just got to be ready", Gordon said. "You have to find ways to get stops, find ways to win".

Now the big difference between last year and this year is that OKC had Kevin Durant last year.

Durant was rested by the Warriors as Golden State erred on the side of caution due to a calf injury.

At times, the explosive Oladipo has looked capable. Trevor Ariza, and Ryan Anderson both have had disappointing nights in Games 1 and 2, and if they also start firing, this could get even uglier for Westbrook and the Thunder.

It's now or never, Billy Donovan. "That's it", Westbrook said. Like every player. Everybody wants to come out and play great, it doesn't always work out that way.

"If you cuss, you get fined, so if somebody else cuss, make sure when they cuss".

I tend to lean to the best player on the best team. "We know we still have a shot to win this".

The first half saw the Russell Westbrook that the Thunder wanted and the Westbrook the rest of the National Basketball Association feared - Westbrook had 22 points and 10 assists in the first 24 minutes and, more importantly, he opened things up and got his teammates going - Oklahoma City had 10 more points in the paint than Houston, it had 12 second chance points, and it had seven blocked shots - OKC owned the key.

"Just play. Go out and compete at a level that he's able to compete at". In their last seven games as a home favorite of seven points or less, the Thunder are 5-2 SU and ATS.

When asked if Westbrook tried to do too much at the end of Game 2, Donovan said he trusted Westbrook based on how he's closed out games this season. His team ultimately losing a heartbreaker to the Rockets, which now puts he and his team down 0-2 in the series as they head back to Oklahoma City. So much for getting out in front and staying there. Westbrook shot just four for 18 in the fourth quarter as the Rockets clawed back from a double-digit deficit to surge ahead. But Oladipo isn't concerned. "We've been in that situation all year, and Russ has made shots".
