A dramatic turn of events saw TTV Dinakaran being ousted from AIADMK party last night and the trouble just doubled after the Delhi police issued a look-out notice against him.

Dinakaran, meanwhile, convened a meeting with MLAs hours after the decision to delink him from the party was announced.

Rebel AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday described the ministers' revolt against the rival Amma faction leader TTV Dhinakaran as the "first success" of his "dharma yudh" against V K Sasikala. But he says he will quit as deputy general secretary of AIADMK Amma only after consulting the general secretary, which is Sasikala herself!

He adds: "They have taken the decision out of fear. Had I been told, I would have participated in the minister's meeting". Majority of the MLAs in the party hail from Kongu nadu. The senior ministers and party leaders have confirmed that the Sasikala-Dinakaran group will not be allowed to interfere in the party affairs. "If they feel that the party will be benefited if I stay away from it, I will do that", he added.

Panneerselvam had filled-in for Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister thrice in the past, twice when she had to go to jail in corruption cases and once when she was on her death bed.

Sasikala then installed E. Palaniswami as Chief Minister. So definitely they will claim that they have support.

"We will run the party and the government", Jayakumar said.

Earlier in the day, speaking to a news channel in New Delhi LOk Sabha Deputy Speaker M. Thambidurai urged Dinakaran to respect the party's decision.

"I am keen this (episode) should not affect the party and the government".

The announcement came on a day when the Panneerselvam camp made it clear there can be no talks on a possible merger of the warring factions till the Sasikala family continued to helm the party.

The committee set up to work out the merger formalities will have to grapple with the question whether the present government will continue or whether Panneerselvam will lead again on the grounds that he was a victim of Sasikala's machinations. "Sasikala's appointment as the general secretary is illegal and we will not accept it. Family politics will not be accepted", he asserted.
