With Will Power dominating practice, qualifying and the IndyCar Grand Prix for his first win of the season, just about everyone else in Gasoline Alley began looking ahead to Monday's opening practice for the Indianapolis 500.

Will Power used the backdrop of iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway to move past a pair of Team Penske greats in the Indy vehicle record book.

Power owned the weekend. It wasn't that easy. The first stint really killed us.

"I was very concious of the gap that Dixon was closing", Power said of the later stages of the race.

Dixon made his 275th career start and extended his consecutive starts streak to 212 races, breaking a tie for the second-longest all-time run with Jimmy Vasser.

Hamilton's second win in five races this season cut Vettel's lead from 13 points to six heading into the Monaco GP.

Scott Dixon (#9 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) started 4th, finished 2nd, his third podium finish, and fifth top-five result, in five races in 2017: "It was definitely a tough race".

Ryan Hunter-Reay enjoyed a competitive race for Andretti Autosport, rising up from eight to finish a strong third, after a late overtaking manoeuvre on the struggling Penske of Castroneves.

"It was good to get a win". "We've had so much misfortune".

Actually, he was much faster in the last qualifying round and broke the previous record by almost a second.

Marco Andretti will again try to break the family's Indy curse.

Juan Montoya is making a rare appearance this year. "But he's taken a big step from last year and you have to remember that Josef (Newgarden) took a few years to settle in and this kid only has a dozen starts (14 now), so I'm encouraged". He won the inaugural road-course race in 2014, was knocked out of the 2015 race with a bad gearbox and became the first two-time victor last season after taking the pole. Castroneves took over the lead as Power exiting the pits and ran his turn at the front of the pack until the next round of stops.

"I pushed my tires way too hard early, and Helio was right on me", Power said. This time Power held the lead after both he and Castroneves pitted.

Dixon tried to close at the end, but it wasn't going to be enough to catch Power.
