'Threematch' at hand for Cavaliers and Warriors

The Cleveland Cavaliers will meet the Golden State Warriors for the third year in a row in the National Basketball Association finals on June 1 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.

The back-and-forth series is punctuated by LeBron James again rising to another level with a championship on the line, and Curry asserting himself and looking again like a unanimous MVP comes down to the final game.

"I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, but when you're growing up and seeing Michael Jordan it's nearly like a god, so I never did believe I could be Mike".

After the game, James commented on his performance with, "I had a tough game, period".

"They want to let (the swelling) die down a little bit then take another MRI once everything is down and it's back to normal. So having that team like Golden State over there who is always pushing us, I know from on this side, it's great for us and it's great for the game".

The Warriors enter this year's edition of the NBA Finals with a flawless 12-0 record, while the Cavs' only loss came on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics. Golden State is the first team to enter the NBA Finals with a ideal 12-0 mark. "We match up well with them and I think they'd say the same about us". That's enough motivation alone. They played great basketball this year. It will be interesting to see how he performs in his first NBA Finals. "Since my first year I've grown so much and I'm proud of myself in that area as well, but I've got a long ways to go".

The Cavs been there before so they know what to expect and what they need to do to win.

"Throughout the series, I didn't get the opportunity to have that moment (with Thomas)", James said Thursday night. "So that's what we're focused on".

"He reminds me of a guy I played with - Rod Strickland".

After the Cavs captured the Eastern Conference title Thursday in Boston, forward Richard Jefferson said "barring injury or something cataclysmic", the Cavs expected to meet the Warriors in the Finals. That Over/Under number is the largest total in the Covers database (1990-91-2017) and easily eclipses the previous high of 214 points, which was set for Game 3 of the 1995 NBA Finals between the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.

Likewise, James never really played with great scorers or playmakers during his first stint in Cleveland, so of course he often topped his team's statistics in points and assists. We're only four games away from our goal, but that's all got to start next Thursday. "So it makes it even more unsafe when you equip that talent, that skill with those guys".

We all know what happened last time. So rather than add another scorer, Don Nelson figured Golden State might be better off getting a dominant man in the middle to shore up the defense in the 2007 National Basketball Association draft. Boston is the No. 1 overall seed and will have home-court advantage in this battle for a Finals' spot, but they will be the heavy underdog in the series.

"It's just weird because, on the one hand, Mike has to coach the team as he sees fit, I'm taking part in practices, helping with the messaging, taking part, coaching meetings, but I'm not on the sidelines during games", Kerr said. The Thunder lost to Miami in five games, a series that made James a champion for the first time. In this season's championship game, the better athlete will guide his team to the trophy.

Kerr is still dealing with complications from back surgery in 2015.

"It's coming", he said. We had to earn it.' And both teams had to do the same thing.
