John McEnroe Declines Chance to Apologize to Serena Williams (Watch)

John McEnroe is refusing to back down on statements he made about how 23-time Grand Slam victor Serena Williams' would fare on the men's circuit.

When Serena Williams announced her pregnancy on a social media platform in April, the world was thrown by the fact that she played and won the Australian Open while pregnant.

McEnroe, a former player and now TV commentator, said Williams is the best women's tennis player in history - "no question".

"Why don't you combine ..."

Williams' badass Vanity Fair cover comes after she shut down John McEnroe, 58, after he said she would place "like 700 in the world" on the men's tour.

Williams took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to reply to McEnroe's comments. "I have nothing. I've done absolutely nothing for the baby room". I've never played anyone ranked "there" nor do I have time.

"I don't want anything to go wrong with Serena because she's pregnant". She was doing it tongue-in-cheek as well, and I think deep down I can't believe we're even talking about it.

When Garcia-Navarro mentioned that it's been suggested that McEnroe and Williams team up to re-create a Battle of the Sexes moment, he said he didn't really have an interest but then crassly added, "Maybe I should get her now because she's pregnant". "I've said this 1000 times", McEnroe said.

The late-night personality read his comment out loud, which drew audible boos from the audience: If Williams had "played the men's circuit, she'd be like 700 in the world". But at any rate, I believe I have some ability left and I had pride when I played. In an interview with BBC, he said that McEnroe's statement was not meant as an attack on women and that it was based on a general fact, that men are stronger than men. "And she followed up with, 'Why do you have to say female tennis player?"

However, John McEnroe, a retired tennis player considered one of the greats, doesn't seem to have his head around this yet.

The 35-year-old is now expecting her first child with her husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian. "This is happening sooner than later, and it's going by so fast".

The U.s. plans to revive the competition and take over the tennis grounds as early as January 2018.

"I would hope that I would win against Serena", said Tursunov in an interview with the BBC.
