In the course of the dispute, Foster threatened the mother with a knife and thrust his infant children underwater in the bathtub, according to the Associated Press. Foster held Forrells at knifepoint and attempted to drown the infants.

Cash Freeman, a neighbor to the residence, entered with his revolver and shot Foster two times in the back, killing the father.

She ran into the home of their neighbor, Cash Freeman and told him what was going on in her home.

The babies were taken to the hospital and released, according to NBC.

Ada police say Freeman was questioned after the incident.

It is not clear whether Freeman will face charges for the shooting. Meanwhile, the infants were transported to a local hospital and released Saturday, per KXII.

Twenty-seven-year-old Leland Foster of Ada, Okla. allegedly went to the home of his estranged wife, Michelle Forrells and their twins. Freeman told KFOR that he knows he did what needed to be done, but that he is anxious that he may be in trouble.

According to court documents, back in 2011, Foster was charged with domestic abuse by strangulation and arson in the first degree.

"It's terrible because I've held the babies and, like, I've played with them and I just gave them clothes yesterday", Pierce said. "They might not have made it", Pierce said.

Bratcher indicated there was possibly a police video of the Ada, Oklahoma police officers' response to the scene of the shooting. The woman could be heard screaming in the background through an open line, police spokeswoman Lisa Bratcher told The Ada News. The grandfather of the twins said in an interview with KXII-TV that he was happy his twin grandchildren had not been drowned and were now safe.
