PM Modi thanks Netherlands for helping India get MTCR membership

Addressing a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that both the nations discussed terrorism, extremism and radicalization.

In the past, Modi too has stressed about the importance of securing the cyber borders, going on to say that the next war will be fought in the cyber area.

"We consider the U.S. as our primary partner for India's social and economic transformation", Modi said.

From the U.S. point of view, it appears to be a sign that Washington is less inclined to "incentivise" Pakistan to improve - both in Afghanistan and India.

Ahead of the meeting, a senior Trump administration official had said the Trump administration has signed some executive orders related to work and immigration, and president Trump's executive order on H-1B visas directs the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of Homeland Security to propose potential reforms to the H-1B visa program.

"The relationship between India and the United States has never been stronger, never been better", Trump told reporters in the White House Rose Garden as he stood alongside the Indian premier.

PM Modi also met the Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

"One of our common priorities will be the development of trade, commerce, and investment links".

"Technology, innovation and knowledge economy are also areas we are actively looking at", he said.

Noting that extensive economic and tax reforms launched in their respective countries will unlock enormous economic opportunities for both countries, they committed to further expanding and balancing the trade relationship and to removing obstacles to growth and jobs creation.

Delegations led by PM Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump meet at the White House. "This summer India will celebrate the 70th anniversary of their Independence and on behalf of the USA, I want to congratulate the Indians on this magnificent milestone", he said.

Trump's remarks after the meeting focused on his security agenda, with the president pledging to "destroy radical Islamic terrorism".

The deal was estimated to be worth two to three billion dollars, the reports said, adding that the decision was communicated to the Indian government and the manufacturer by the State Department.

Trump and Modi embraced each other as friends and partners during Modi's first visit after Trump's oath of office, pledging their quest for economic growth would strengthen rather than undermine ties between the world´s two largest democracies.

The US and India look forward to working together on advanced defence equipment and technology at a level commensurate with that of America's closest allies and partners, said a joint statement issued after the India US Summit at the White House.

Trump also said little about the Asia-Pacific, though Modi made clear India's intent to increase cooperation in the region as a check against China's rising power. I thank him for the welcome.

Indian Economy is the fastest growing: President Trump: Your (PM Modi) accomplishments have been vast.

"You have done a great job economically and you are doing well in so many ways". He said, "We hope we will be catching up with you very soon".
