According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, financial details weren't immediately available. He had been a restricted free agent, allowing San Antonio to match any contract he received.

Maybe because they're not actually trying to re-sign him.

While the advanced statistics showed that Simmons may not have been worth what he wanted from the Spurs, he became a fan favorite for his explosive offense and defense.

Simmons averaged 12.5 points per game during the National Basketball Association regular season while starting eight games. However, he stepped up for the Spurs when needed, averaging 10.5 points, especially during last year's playoffs when Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker went down with injuries.

Simmons famously paid $150 to tryout for the Spurs' development league affiliate in 2013 after going undrafted out of the University of Houston. Bryn Forbes is another option for coach Gregg Popovich. Fournier averaged a team-high 17.2 points per game in 2016-17 while also contributing 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
