According to court documents, Payne was also arrested in December 2016 for shoplifting at a Georgia mall when she tried to steal a $2,000 necklace.
Fox 5 Atlantareported Payne was wearing an electronic ankle monitor during her shopping excursion at the Chamblee Road Walmart and subsequent arrest.
The guard caught Payne as she was about to exit the store with the items that totaled $86.22.
An employee watched the 86-year-old jewel thief snap up items in the pharmacy, electronics and grocery departments, police said.
We're working on learning more information about Payne's latest arrest.
She was on bond for that case when, in December 2016, she was arrested at Perimeter Mall and charged with shoplifting after trying to seal a diamond necklace worth almost $2,000 from Von Maur department store.
Payne, featured in a 2013 documentary about her six-decade criminal career, had been deemed too ill to stand trial in Georgia for an alleged theft committed in 2015. She has been arrested all across the country, including in Charlotte. "There has never been a day that I went to steal that I did not get what I want", Payne said in the documentary.
Over the years she has served short sentences for her crimes, but ultimately ending up behind bars again.
"It causes me to forget", she said.
Mug shots of her arrests date back to the 1960's.
