Donald Trump has not said a word about Scaramucci's alleged rant, he has announced Friday afternoon that General John Kelly is the new Chief of Staff, which means Reince Priebus is out. Since entering the White House six months ago, Trump has parted company with his national security advisor, deputy national security advisor, Federal Bureau of Investigation director, press secretary, communications director, acting attorney general, deputy chief of staff and now chief of staff, a turnover of top officials that is unparalleled in United States political history.

The U.S. president labeled Kelly a "star" and a "great American" whom he expects to do well in his new responsibility at the White House. He said: "John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security".

After months of speculation about Mr Priebus' fate, Mr Trump tweeted his decision as he landed in Washington after a speech in NY, in which he lavishly praised retired US Marines general Mr Kelly's performance. Then it was Sean Spicer, the beleaguered press secretary doubling as communications director, who left the day Trump brought on board NY financier Anthony Scaramucci as the new communications director. His links with Republican lawmakers were expected to help a White House filled with Washington outsiders to accomplish their legislative agenda. "I think it's healthy and I support him in it".

"Reince Priebus has left it all out on the field, for our party and our country", the statement said.

Priebus confirmed that he formally resigned on resigned on Thursday.

"I plan on continuing to serve and report directly to President @realDonaldTrump at the @WhiteHouse, as I've done since 1/20/2017", Scavino tweeted over the weekend.

ROBERT COSTA: Well, General Kelly has said publicly in the past that he would like to maybe try to monitor the president's calls, that he thinks there could be more organization inside of the West Wing. Let me leak the f***ing thing and see if I can c**k-block these people the way I c**k-blocked Scaramucci for six months, ' he said, in reference to the months he was kept out of the White House, reportedly by Priebus, after having sold his company.

A new name was added to the Trump Administration Friday following a week of drama surrounding the position of chief of staff, leading to the ousting of Reince Priebus.

Who is Bill Shine and why was Mr Scaramucci angered by the leak?

As homeland security secretary, Mr Kelly took the lead on some of Mr Trump's most controversial policies, including his executive orders suspending the admission of refugees and temporarily barring visitors from several Muslim-majority nations. Later, Scaramucci disparaged Priebus in an expletive-filled interview with a reporter, and alleged Priebus had been leaking information.

Last week it was Sean Spicer, who quit in protest of the hiring of new communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

In a statement, Kelly said he was honoured to be asked to serve as the chief of staff. "This is good for the President".

Anthony Scaramucci will not draw a White House salary, he told CNN Friday.

No White House chief of staff's term has ended more swiftly than the former GOP chairman's short 189 days on the job. "We'll be working on a transition here for a couple of weeks together with General Kelly starting on Monday morning".
