Rohit Sharma comes in replacing Karun Nair.

A number of other Test regulars like Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha and Ishant Sharma also returned to the side. After that he was sidelined due to thigh injury.

The Indian team for the Test series against Sri Lanka has been announced.

That Rohit will make a comeback was indicated by skipper Kohli in England and that was precisely the reason why he was rested for the limited overs series against West Indies. Pandya was included in the first two Tests against Australia earlier in the year but didn't feature in the final eleven. Nair hasn't been amongst the runs since his epic knock in Chennai previous year and was chosen as the skipper of India A for the series in South Africa.

Allrounder Hardik Pandya, who was left out for the final two Tests against Australia with a shoulder injury, is back in the squad, and so is Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund.

Virat Kohli-led team India are set to visit Sri Lanka for a 3-match Test Series, 5-match ODI series and 1 T20 worldwide starting from July 26, reports oneindia.com on Sunday.

India won the last series in Sri Lanka 2-1 and it was also the farewell series for Kumar Sangakkara. Jayant Yadav, who was present in the Indian squad for the Australian series, has also been dropped.

The three-member selection committee decided on a 16-member squad via teleconference with 15 members, who were a part of India's fourth Test against Australia in Dharamsala, being retained.
