Had the Suns been over the cap, the league could have helped Phoenix with recovering some of Knight's salary over the next year. Knight, 25, will undergo surgery after an examination with Head Team Physician Dr. Tom Carter. He averaged only 11 points per game while shooting just under 40 percent from the field, also recording a career-low 2.4 assists per game. And you can't help but feel for both the Suns and Brandon Knight.
Phoenix's guard depth has taken a serious hit. Even if they Suns found a team that would do so, they would have to surrender plenty of draft assets. What the Suns must bank on now is a great season by Ulis and Devin Booker and hope they can make a trade for Eric Bledsoe to help get that salary cap down and younger on the wings.
