Shadow of Mordor's/War's signature nemesis system is created to supplement the game's narrative with procedurally generated enemies that give each player his or her own personal story. Players find a more personal and expansive world full of heroes and villains, iconic locations and more.

To coincide with the release of Nemesis Forge, Warner also holding a sale for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, where the game is now available for 80% the usual retail price on digital platforms. The trailer below demonstrates how this will work.

The Nemesis system, which is returning in a greater capacity in Shadow of War, was a core feature in the upcoming game's predecessor.

Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth: Shadow of War continues the original narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Warner Bros. and Monolith are celebrating the news by making Shadow of Mordor free-to-play on Steam and Xbox One until July 9. Additionally, the Game of the Year Edition is on a deep discount on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam. The game is also on sale for 80 percent off on all platform until the dates listed below. So you can bring your best friend and worst enemy over for the sequel when it releases on October 10.

Today it announced that it's also going to let players take the worst of their enemies (and the most stalwart of their allies) with them from the old game to the new one, thanks to a Shadow of Mordor update called Nemesis Forge. Now those rivals will be able to follow Talion into Shadow of War.
