"We missed some targets at the beginning, and I think we're paying for that".

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has been told that the club must offload some players before the transfer window closes if he wants to make more recruits, according to The Shields Gazette.

It being a similar case in January when the United boss expected signings to be made, only for not one to arrive, with Rafa going public on his anger and frustrations.

Merson said of Newcastle, "They won't be happy with this, but they haven't really recruited yet".

Rafa Benitez has admitted that this summer has been frustrating for him in terms of landing targets and some have predicted that this could result in the club having a hard season. "I worry about Benitez getting frustrated".

Newcastle are among the teams who have an interest in signing Perez and Benitez has confirmed he talked to Wenger about the striker.

"Always in football you need luck, I had the luck when the ball came through to me and then I scored", Atsu said of his Verona strike.

"I can read our fans saying "We will sign a £25m striker".

"Now we are going a little bit late the market is insane and it is not just a question of money because sometimes the money is there but the player is not available". And whatever Ashley says, these aren't current market value prices for top Premier League players.

"I am not happy...but at the same time it's a challenge".

"It is very hard, the prices are insane".

"The Championship - the team, the fans, the city were together and that was crucial for us".

"If we are still in the race it's because we believe there's a possibility and we will continue to fight because the truth is the player is looking forward to joining us".
