Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield 12 Aug 2017: EPL Preview and Predictions

Two managers new to the Premier League left Selhurst Park in very different moods after promoted Huddersfield Town shocked Crystal Palace with a 3-0 away win.

That completed Hudson's third promotion to the top flight, repeating the Play-Off Final feat he achieved with Crystal Palace in 2004 and second tier title win with Cardiff City in 2013, when he was named the Club's Player of the Year.

Tom Ince, the only player in the Huddersfield starting XI with Premier League experience, saw a right-wing cross fall to him inside two minutes, but could only direct his half-volley straight at Wayne Hennessey.

The Eagles faithful will be hopeful they can perform better than their last campaign, where the prospect of relegation to the Championship seemed a reality, however with a new manager at the helm, things could be on the up for the south London club. It will be up to Wagner to get the most out of his defence as the attack could struggle to find the back of the net.

"The pundits are there to voice their opinion, this is obviously their opinion, as it was last season".

"Tommy has all the right skills needed to be a good captain; he is reliable, open-minded, committed and likes to challenge not only himself but the group as well", Wagner said.

Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer has admitted that his side will be aiming for mid-table security ahead of the new Premier League season.

"I am very pleased to be joining Crystal Palace and after speaking with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to have the opportunity to come over and play in the Premier League", Riedewald said.

De Boer has taken over with no experience of English football, but having managed Ajax and Inter.

"From my first day in England, Mark has been one of the biggest positives". It worked for long periods of the game, and I think that is one of the reasons we have got this result today.

For every way in which it may have been wonderful for Wagner, it would have been a concern for De Boer.

"It can not be a better day for a new striker in the Premier League", Wagner added.
