"We'll see how he responds to treatment and go from there".
There was a lot of potential for the Giants wide receiver corps to be as good, if not better than any in the National Football League with Shepard as a No. 3 option.
Unfortunately for Shepard and the Giants, the wide receiver was reportedly carted off of the field during Wednesday's practice with a leg injury.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later confirmed that medical staff was looking at Shepard's left ankle. Having started all 16 regular-season games for the Giants, Shepard caught four passes for 63 yards in the team's wild card game loss to Green Bay.
As a rookie last season, Shepard turned heads. He had a productive rookie season, racking up almost 700 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
This would be the best possible scenario for Shepard and the Giants. Behind Shepard on the wide receiver depth chart is unproven talent.
