Netflix Renews Wrestling Show Glow For Season 2

GLOW Live Studio Audience

Netflix has renewed the ladies wrestling series GLOW for a second season, according to Deadline.

The show follows the lives of the titular "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling" and is inspired by the real-life sports show that briefly aired on United States television during the 1980s.

In addition to Brie, the series stars Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Kate Nash, and more, all of whom add up to make up one of the larger female ensembles on scripted television right now.

The first run of ten episodes was released via Netflix on June 23, with the streaming giant describing the show as "a Cinderella story with bodyslams". Set in 1985, GLOW follows Ruth Wilder, played by Alison Brie, who is an actress struggling to find work.

On Twitter, the official page for GLOW posted a teaser showing a hot pink "2", an unambiguous sign that the breakout freshman series will return for its sophomore season. GLOW, or Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, was inspired by a female wrestling league and accompanying TV show of the same name from the late '80s. I mean, it's another show that Weeds and Orange is the New Black creator, Jenji Kohan is behind, so what's not to love? If you didn't watch GLOW yet, well, what the hell are you waiting for?
