Overwatch Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch Modes Coming Soon to the Arcade

Blizzard has finally announced that Overwatch is getting a deathmatch mode that's now available on PC in the Public Test Realm (PTR).

In this mode, regardless whether it is played solo or on a team, only the number of kills matter.

It seems likely that this new build will take a while to test and will likely launch sometime after the end of the Overwatch Summer Games. But if a player kills himself in the game, a point will be deducted.

It's an Overwatch update, and that means Jeff Kaplan is back on our screens.

In the individual mode, 8 players will face each other in battles where they will have to worry about eliminating as many enemies as possible.

Team Deathmatch pits eight players against each other in two teams of four, where the first side to register thirty kills achieves victory. Being in the top half of the FFA mode will credit the player with a win which will count toward getting loot boxes in Arcade Mode. As always, Soldier: 76 is a solid option with his healing abilities and pulse rifle, as is Reaper with his ability to heal from characters that he kills. If you want to successfully capture the objective, escort the payload or win at all, you have to do it with your team. It doesn't matter if you're good or bad at the game, it's a lot of fun.

At full release, both modes will exist in Overwatch's Arcade.

Deathmatch will also contain a series of maps which have been slightly modified for the new mode, as well as a brand new map, Chateau Guillard.

The Overwatch Arena's Black Forest map.

"We've made several modifications to many of these maps (including restricting play to a specific area and developing a special respawn system) when playing in these modes", Blizzard added.
