Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Friday that North Korea continues to deepen its diplomatic and economic isolation with its provocative actions.

The North wants its neighbor to end its military drills with the USA, saying such joint exercises are rehearsals for a war against North Korea.

The Marine Corps' F-35Bs based in Japan and the Air Force's B-1Bs stationed in Guam are among high-profile US defense assets deployed to Korea relatively often in response to the North's provocations.

Park added: "Additional provocations will only further isolate the country (North Korea) diplomatically and economically, and will eventually lead down the path of its own collapse".
