US President Donald Trump's son-in-law is registered as a female voter in NY, registration records show.
It is also possible that he just accidentally filled out the form incorrectly or he was a victim of a malicious voter impersonation scheme.
The Wired report boosts Kushner's vast portfolio of issues as the White House gears up to deal with allegations of collusion with the Kremlin during the 2016 campaign and transition, an accusation both parties deny. Kushner explained his first failed attempt at filling out the form as "my assistant interpreted [a] message as meaning that the entire form was completed".
Interestingly, before 2009, Kushner had been registered as a voter with the state of New Jersey where his voter registration card displayed his gender as "unknown".
"There has been a good deal of misinformation reported about my SF-86 form", Kushner later attempted to clear up during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, as obtained by CNN. "These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal, rather than his White House, address". Mark Warner (D-VA) first learned about Kushner's email account from media reports, after Politico on Monday revealed the Trump adviser set up a private email address in December-during the tail-end of the transition-to correspond with other Trump aides.
A request for comment sent to Bainum received an automatic reply saying that he left American Bridge on Friday.
This was after Trump called for an investigation into voter fraud, "including those registered to vote in two states", after repeatedly saying, falsely, that millions of people had voted illegally in November's election.
It's worth noting that a Loyola Law School professor explained to Wired that this error likely does not constitute voter fraud, unless Kushner marked himself as female with the intention of falsifying information.
CBS has previously reported that Kushner had updated a disclosure form needed to get security clearance no fewer than three separate times.
