The Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are codenamed as Walleye and Taimen. The brands of "Google" and "Pixel" are not mentioned anywhere.
Speaking of which, Google dropped the bomb - concerning the Pixel 2/Pixel XL 2 launch - just two days after Apple launched its next batch of iPhones.
It looks like the Pixel 2 series might be announced on October 4. Instead of waiting for users to mail their defective phones, Google will gladly send the replacement units immediately after obtaining a report about the problematic device. According to the latest rumors, Google will announce the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL at the event, which will be quite similar in terms of specs.
Google is reportedly collaborating with two phone makers on the Pixel 2 smartphones, with the smaller device supposedly being produced by HTC, whereas the larger Pixel XL 2 is understood to be handled by LG Electronics.
Google has just added an official landing page for the campaign, seemingly confirming the October 4th event date.
The teaser advertised for the upcoming Pixel 2 phones ends with Google announcing something big coming on October 4, which falls in line with the original Pixel's release past year.
Since Qualcomm had already announced that there won't be a Snapdragon 836, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel XL 2 would probably be powered by the Snapdragon 835 which is now the processor used in every other top end phones. It appears that Google is now replacing all Nexus 6P phones with Pixel XLs if the former is under warranty. It is the same feature that can be found on HTC U11.
The Pixel XL 2 will reportedly measure 5.9 inches and will include a screen that has an 18:9 aspect ration. It is also rumoured that Google is planning to get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack and will opt for Type-C port.
