Pressure ramps up for A&M's Sumlin

Those upset by Texas A&M's shocking 45-44 football loss to UCLA can find solace in knowing coach Kevin Sumlin is upset, too.

The next step for Texas A&M is finding a replacement for quarterback Nick Starkel. Wilson is a good player in the Aggies secondary, but the injury to Starkel could be potentially devastating.

Starkel was diagnosed with a broken ankle and head coach Kevin Sumlin said the signal-caller underwent surgery on Monday. He was 6 of 13 for 62 yards passing, but he played competently at quarterback and helped his team build a massive lead.

UCLA scored five times in the last 17:06 minutes of the game, including four touchdown passes from the much-hyped Josh Rosen.

But it was Sumlin's coaching abilities where Buzbee really took off on a rant after Sunday's collapse, which represented the second-largest blown lead in FBS history. "Kevin Sumlin was out-coached tonight, which isn't new ..." "Our players were more talented tonight". During his weekly press conference Tuesday, Sumlin said he was "frustrated and not happy" about the demands for his job. "We can do better". More of a dual-threat, expect the offense in Aggieland to be zone-read heavy with Mond taking the snaps unless senior Jake Hubenak - who didn't play in the opener - takes over. I said nothing when we had multiple awesome recruiting classes, only to see key players leave our school or underperform.

The Aggies return to action on Saturday, Sept. 9 when they welcome Nicholls State to Kyle Field. "We didn't get it done as coaches", Sumlin said regarding the game.
