Officials at the University of ME at Presque Isle have announced that the institution earned three top rankings on U.S. News and World Report's 2018 Best Colleges list. A year ago, Howard University recorded an 11-point improvement. "We are very proud of that status and find it to be one of our primary attractions for our new and transfer students". Scores for each measure are weighted to determine a final overall score. In other rankings, looking at four-year graduation rate, TCNJ has the fifth highest-percentage among all public colleges and universities. The Blacksburg school also rose in the list of best public schools, moving to No. 25 from No. 27.
The publication provides an annual ranking that compares more than 1,800 USA schools in a variety of categories, including academics, cost and other factors.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) are India's strongest providers of highly employable graduates, while the University of Delhi is the country's leading provider of highly successful alumni, according to the latest QS Graduate Employability Rankings. It ranked 6th in the region past year.
The University of Chicago has held onto its No. 3 spot in U.S. News and World Report rankings of national universities, as Northwestern University moved up the list and the University of IL at Champaign-Urbana fell.
KU tied for 115th overall among public and private universities in the rankings, up three places from last year's rankings.
As the publisher notes, a "host of intangibles" go into finding the right college, and rankings are just one piece of the puzzle.
Also, CU Boulder's undergraduate engineering program at the College of Engineering and Applied Science comes in at 16th among public institutions whose highest degree is a doctorate, or 30th overall. Among public universities, LSU is ranked 48 among high school counselors out of 162 public universities listed.
"The U.S. News & World Report rankings represent and validate the outstanding performance and achievements of OBU's marvelous faculty, staff and students", President David Whitlock said. Separate lists, such as best liberal arts colleges, best-value schools and best undergraduate business programs, are also distributed. UConn averaged a 93 percent retention rate between freshman and sophomore years from 2012 to 2015.
In August, Kentucky Wesleyan was recognized by Princeton Review as a "Best in the Southeast" school for the 14th consecutive year.
