46% think media make up stories about Trump

At 76 percent, Republicans were most apt to view the news regarding the president and his administration as fake.

Eight-five percent of individuals who strongly approved of Trump's performance in office said the media invented stories about Trump, compared to just 7% from that subset who said the media did not invent stories.

"46% of Americans think the Media is inventing stories about Trump & his Administration".

President Trump regularly accuses much of the USA media of fabricating reports about him, and it appears nearly half of Americans believe that to be true.

In recent weeks, Trump has accused NBC News of fabricating a story about Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calling him a "moron" and another about Trump reportedly suggesting their should be a ten-fold increase in the US nuclear stockpile.

"It is actually much worse than this!" he said. The group's distrust of the news is not particularly surprising as the party's leader, Trump, spends so much time criticizing the media.

The online poll, surveying a total of 1,991 registered voters, has a 2 percent margin of error.
