"Alcon and Denis [Villeneuve, the director] made an unbelievable movie".

My Little Pony: The Movie is a 2017 animated musical fantasy film based on the television series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which was developed as part of the 2010 re-launch of the My Little Pony franchise by Hasbro.

"Blade Runner 2049", starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, opened with $32.7 million at the box office, according to comScore. However, this was a poor opening weekend for a movie that had a big budget, as it cost at least an estimated $150 million to make.

As Blade Runner 2049 is released in cinemas, we are reminded of how epic the first film was (and not just in its premise or duration).

Besides, who knows, Blade Runner 2049 might jump into the Academy Awards the same way George Miller's dystopian science fiction movie Mad Max: Fury Road did back in 2015.

Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution President Jeff Goldstein said "Blade Runner 2049" had fallen short of expectations in mid-sized and smaller markets along with the South and Midwest, where the running time and Major League Baseball play-offs appeared to have held down attendance. I personally prefer his more alive and loose-limbed L.A. detective from "The Nice Guys", but Gosling's nature plays into the movie.

"We did well in the major and high-profile markets", he said. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a certified fresh score of 88 percent from 253 critic reviews.

It will close the weekend with a domestic tally of US$305 million so far, plus US$298.8 million internationally, to top the US$600 million worldwide mark. Focus Features' expansion of Judi Dench's "Victoria & Abdul" came in 8th with $4.2 million at 732 locations.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle and American Made are duking it out to complete the top five, both on around $8.1 million.

"Flatliners" ($4 million) and "Battle of the Sexes" ($2.6 million) rounded out the top 10.
