Class 10 girl jumps from school building in Kerala, dies

A 15-year-old girl, who jumped off the third floor of her school building in Kerala over alleged harassment, succumbed to her injuries on Monday.

The report further stated that the deceased questioned the punishment when her sister was reportedly made to sit with boys. The police are questioning the teachers. The family of the girl had alleged that she was harassed by teachers before she attempted suicide.

Gauri, the class X student of the Trinity Lyceum school, had jumped from the primary block of the school building during lunch break on Friday after she was allegedly reprimanded by her teachers.

Later, when both the sisters were mocked and teased by their friends, they entered into a verbal spat.

The Kollam West Police had registered a case against two teachers identified as Crescent and Sindhu of the school near Thankasseri in connection with the incident. She was first rushed to a private hospital in a critical condition in the district and then was transferred to a specialty hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
