Through the first month of the 2017 season, perhaps no team has more thoroughly surpassed expectations than the Los Angeles Rams.
In his past three games against the Cowboys, McVay's offense in Washington averaged 27.7 points per game, which is a number he'll probably be looking to blow out of the water with his suddenly high-flying offense in Los Angeles.
The Rams' offensive renaissance extends beyond mere statistics, however. But it was Prescott who became a star as a rookie not Goff.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed 20 of 35 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns. He has also thrown as many touchdowns as a year ago, while committing just one turnover in the process. A regression is coming.
"Going into Dallas, they are 'America's Team, ' coming off of a 13-3 season past year", Gurley said.
In the first half against the Rams, Lawrence was repeatedly double teamed and often found an additional blocker in his way en route to Jared Goff.
The Rams have their own standout running back in Todd Gurley and he is off to a better start with 241 rushing yards and six total touchdowns (four rushing, two passing).
On Sunday, the Rams will face off against the Cowboys for the first time in the regular season since 2014, when Dallas mounted a comeback to win, 34-31. Neither qualifies as a Super Bowl contender, leaving many to question the validity of the Los Angeles' strong start. This will be a big game for the Rams but in particular defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
With the loss the Cowboys fall to 2-2. But Johnny Hekker boomed a 62-yard punt and pinned the Cowboys back at their 14-yard line, and they were forced to punt for the first time in the game.
And 2016 National Football League rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott finally had his first long run and touchdown of the season.
Dallas had the chance to tie it with a two-point conversion after a defensive lapse let the Cowboys score. Forcing them to do so more frequently could open up Watkins for some backbreaking deep shots later in the game.
Across the field, some Rams players locked arms, with defensive end Robert Quinn raising a fist in the air. But the Cowboys will control the clock and the line of scrimmage.
What time, channel are the Rams and Cowboys on? "I think one of the things that our guys have done a great job with and really, you go to our alumni association embracing the past and you do some different things where I think that's what's so special about this game, is appreciating the guys that have done it before these players and made the Rams what they are".
