MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski is calling for film producer Harvey Weinstein to go on a "long, self-imposed exile", saying she is refusing to proceed on a book deal unless he steps down from his companies in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.
The report also details how Sivan met Weinstein along with a few other people at a popular Italian restaurant in Manhattan and then rode with him to Socialista, a Cuban-themed club, and restaurant.
Ms. Sivan recalled the alleged encounter after The New York Times published a bombshell report Thursday revealing that Mr. Weinstein, the head of The Weinstein Company and Miramax film studios, reached at least eight settlements with women dating back almost three decades in response to similar previously unpublicized allegations of sexual harassment and other misconduct, including several leading actresses.
Lauren Sivan said that Mr. Weinstein trapped her in the hallway of a New York City restaurant during a private event and then masturbated in front of her until he ejaculated, The Huffington Post reported Friday.
After ejaculating into a nearby potted plant, Weinstein cleaned up and returned to the nightclub.
Once they left, Sivan says Weinstein leaned in and tried to kiss her. Sivan rejected that attempt and told him she had a long-term boyfriend.
The latest allegation comes on the heels of a bombshell New York Times report claiming Weinstein has been paying off sexual harassment accusers for decades.
The NY Post is now floating the tantalizing idea that Weinstein's brother Bob (the brothers founded Miramax and later The Weinstein Company, churning out Oscar-winning or pop-culture-defining films like sex, lies and videotape, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Shakespeare in Love, Good Will Hunting, The King's Speech, Silver Linings Playbook, and more) may have been involved the Times story. "Others did. Keep that in Mind", Sivan wrote on Twitter.
The former TV journalist said she remained silent over the years out of fear of retaliation due to Weinstein's clout in the media industry. The agreement was for her to provide a revised edition of her 2011 Knowing Your Value book - also published through Weinstein - and provide two other works, one tentatively titled Comeback Careers.
Rose McGowan shared a cryptic tweet not long after Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexually harassing multiple female employees and movie stars. She told him no and ended the call. She has not interacted with Weinstein since the incident in 2007.
