The office of First Lady Melania Trump issued an official statement on Monday in response to comments made by Ivana Trump, Donald's first wife, during a previous interview with Good Morning America.

"This youthful blonde lady moved toward me all of a sudden and said 'I'm Marla and I cherish your better half". Instead she fired up a statement via spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham.

She is a proud mother who writes, she wouldn't be surprised if her youngest child Ivanka Trump occupies the White House in the upcoming years.

In an unusual move for modern first ladies, she and Barron, the couple's now-11-year-old son, lived at the family's Trump Tower penthouse in NY for several months after the inauguration so he would not have to switch schools in the middle of the year.

"[Melania] plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books".

And the coda is the real clap-back: "There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex, this is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise". She could not say the same about not her immediate successor, Marla Maples, whom President Trump allegedly had an affair with while they were married.

Ivana also took full credit for raising her kids, claiming that Trump was a "good provider" but didn't spend much time actively involved with the children until they were 18. "In the first place Lady?" Ivana didn't even refer to Maples by name but instead called her a "showgirl".

"She's become very, very popular, I'll tell you that", he said after she introduced him at a recent event at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. "I'm [the] first lady".

"I know that he was not involved at all in any wrongdoing", she said. I like to do what I want to do, go wherever I want to go with whomever I want to go.

"Donald during the divorce was brutal". Moreover, she believes that Ivanka, her daughter, could be president one day. I still feel that way, but given our new reality - having a president in the Oval Office who's reviled by 99.9 percent of the media - I understand why President Trump tweets.

"Donald told me. He said, 'Ivana, if you want it, I give it to you, '" she said.
