Huawei opens pre-orders for Mate 10 with RM999 of goodies

China’s Huawei has unveiled a new line of smartphones that match or even improve on key features offered by Apple or Samsung while undercutting their rivals on price

Complementing the Kirin 970 is 4GB of RAM for the base model coupled with 64GB of onboard storage on the Mate 10. Armed with a Neural Processing Unit, or NPU, the Mate 10 duo should be able of some impressive feats, right?

Huawei finally introduced its new flagship smartphones Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro last week at the huge press conference in Berlin. The Kirin 970 features an octa-core ARM Cortex CPU, a first-to-market Mali-G72 12-core GPU and the first NPU designed specifically for a mobile device. Fifteen R&D centers have been set up in the United States, Germany, Sweden, Russia, India and China.

The devices will start shipping starting November for EUR 699 (approximately about Rs. 53,400) for the Mate 10, EUR 799 (about Rs. 61,000) for the Mate 10 Pro and EUR 1,395 (approximately about Rs. 1,06,600) for the Mate 10 Porsche Design. Mate 10 Pro, however, comes with a 6-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ (1080x2160) resolution screen and 18:9 aspect ratio, which makes it narrower and longer than Mate 10.

The HUAWEI Mate 10 and HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro pack a 4000 mAh high-density battery featuring a smart battery management system that understands user behaviour and intelligently allocates resources to maximize battery life. It also features an external storage slot for adding a microSD card. Apart from that, the dual-cameras on both phones support optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus and AI-powered 2X digital (lossless) zoom and 4K video recording.

The Mate 10 Pro, pictured here is the flagship of the bunch and is the only one you'll find on sale in the UK. The Mate 10 sports an 81.79% screen-to-body ratio and Mate 10 Pro manages an 81.61% screen-to-body ratio.

"It won't be globally available in all parts of the world and the mate 10 will be lauched in stores in the country pretty much the same time as anywhere in the world", Mr Townsley said.

Alongside the standard variants, the Mate 10 also comes in a Porsche Design Edition, which builds on the solid hardware of the regular models with an even more premium exterior and exclusive Porsche badging.
