Liverpool to resist Barcelona's renewed Coutinho approach

GETTY Liverpool's game at the Emirates v Arsenal on Christmas Eve will be over by the early afternoon

All the signs are that this is going to be another protracted saga for the winter transfer window and in all likelihood, next summer as well!

Now, a claim appears reported by Mundo Deportivo that says Coutinho has actually won a secret deal with manager Juergen Klopp and Liverpool management.

However, it is highly unlikely that, after rejecting a sizeable offer for the No. 10 in the summer, that Liverpool will sanction Coutinho's departure in January.

In terms of Liverpool's perspective, it will not be ideal for them to lose their best player during the middle of the season as they tend to struggle on the pitch without Coutinho.

Gallagher's report noted how news of an agreement between Liverpool and Coutinho goes against the notion he'll serve the remainder of his contract until 2022, something the Reds have been adamant about throughout.

"That will buy them the four defenders and a goalkeeper they probably need".

It's likely the Anfield club will be upset with Grau's comments having written to Barcelona urging them to stop trying to unsettle Coutinho.

Liverpool host their arch-rivals Manchester United tomorrow and are seven points behind Jose Mourinho's side with only seven league matches played.

"But will they convince Liverpool?".

Coutinho's presence at Anfield will also be crucial now that star attacker Sadio Mane has been ruled out of action due to a hamstring injury.

The Brazilian was subject to summer-long interest from the Spanish giants, who desperately wanted to recruit him in the wake of losing prized asset Neymar to PSG in an astronomical £198m deal.
