Odell Beckham Jr. Was Carted Off With An Apparent Left Ankle Injury

A bad 2017 season continues to get worse for the Giants.

Beckham Jr. clearly had tears in his eyes while being taken off the field, signaling the possible severity of this injury. Three plays later Philip Rivers found Melvin Gordon for the go-ahead touchdown.

ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan said on Twitter that Beckham Jr is set to have surgery. The Giants also lost Sterling Shepard and Brandon Marshall to ankle injuries on the same second-quarter drive, and Dwayne Harris fractured his foot on the second-half kickoff.

Five plays earlier, Shepard hopped off the field with an ankle injury and collapsed on the sideline before getting evaluated and ruled out the remainder of the game. Orleans Darkwa scored on a 23-yard run and the Giants got a safety in scoring their first first-quarter points this season. Beckham was hurt late when Casey Hayward pinned his ankle making a tackle after an incomplete pass.

Chargers: at Oakland next Sunday.

Beckham has 25 catches for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns in 4 games this season.
