Stalker set woman and her family on fire: woman succumbs to injuries, family critical

According to the reports, the 22-years-old engineering student Indhuja was at her home when her stalker entered her house and burnt her alive.

The victims sister and mother suffered severe injuries when they tried to save her, police said, adding the duo is admitted in a hospital in critical condition.

The gory incident occurred at around 8.45 pm last night, when Akash went to Induja's home in Adambakkam and was refused entry to see her. On another hand, the family says that Akash has been stalking and harassing Indhuja from past one month.

Induja died before she could be taken to a hospital. "When they opened the door, he poured petrol and set them on fire, and fled the spot", he was quoted as saying on the NDTV report. Induja's parents were averse to Akash meeting her.

Police said they detained the suspect, 23-year-old Akash, who was pursuing Induja against her wishes for almost a month.

A stalker on Monday night killed a girl, whom he obsessed, by setting her on fire and severely injured her mother and sister.

The mother has sustained 49 per cent burn injuries, while her daughter has 23 per cent.

According to police, Induja's family said the victim had rebuffed him while the accused has claimed he was in a relationship with Induja and they had plans to marry.

Upon hearing cries, neighbours rushed to call an ambulance, which they claim arrived after 40 minutes. Initially, they didn't open the door, but Akash insisted that he would only to talk to Induja. Induja's father reportedly works in Dubai.
