SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud will be available for Azure customers, allowing them to run the company's S4 HANA database products in Microsoft's cloud. Microsoft said it will use SAP S/4HANA on Azure to track its internal finances, and SAP will do the same for its own operations.
SAP also plans to move about a dozen of its own internal business critical systems to Azure. More enterprises are moving key systems to the cloud to realize the benefits of digital transformation, including streamlined operations and new business models. SAP's S/4Hana service is an ERP system for large enterprises, used to support activities such as finance, sales, human resources, procurement and manufacturing supply chain tracking.
The companies will document these internal projects, to better offer customers guidance and enterprise architecture for the deployment of SAP applications on Azure, according to the release.
This new agreement covers internal software development running within the cloud, as well as the ability to reach customers that use both Microsoft and SAP software.
"Microsoft and SAP are strategic partners helping us grow our wholesale and direct-to-consumer businesses". "We produce innovative products that allow our customers to pursue and enjoy their outdoor passions".
A deeper partnership with SAP could open a new path for big corporate customers to use Azure, according to industry analysts. The companies will also work on joint marketing efforts, they said. They included Coca-Cola, Columbia Sportswear, Coats and Costco.
