However, one of the militants, travelling in the auto was overpowered while two others managed to escape from the spot.

This was the second time a militant was captured alive during encounter.

"Militants opened fire on the search party seriously wounding a sub-inspector and a special police officer", Srinagar's senior superintendent of police Imtiyaz Parray said.

The police party however, succeeded in intercepting the auto in which militants were travelling and arrested one terrorist, while other two others fled from the scene.

"SI had opened fire", another police officer when contacted, said. "His body has reached his home and we have started further investigation", they said.

Mugees Ahmad Mir, a resident of the city's Parimpora area, was brought home dead this evening, a police official said, adding that he was injured in the shoot-out. "The combing operation was going on", the police officer said. According to police, Mir was injured in the shootout and died in the orchard.

The officer said that Mugees was presently affiliated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind led by Zakir Musa. "To link it with Al-Qaeda, Daesh or Taliban is a ploy to turn Kashmir into Afghanistan", the spokesman said.
