Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body of Congress, will meet in Delhi today to decide the party's organisational poll schedule which will lead to its vice-president Rahul Gandhi's elevation.
NDTV reported that the Congress' central election authority suggested keeping 1 December as the last date for filing nominations.
The meeting at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence will approve the schedule of electing the next party president.
As most people believe Rahul will not face any opposition like his mother in becoming the president of Congress, reports have stated that the meeting may just be a formality.
This notification will clear the decks for the elevation of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi as its next president.
With his election, party leaders are hoping, both ends would be achieved. The date of organisational poll is December 8 and counting is on December 11.
Mumbai: NCP chief Sharad Pawar today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "feared" the "transformed image" of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi due to which the BJP was raking up old issues such as Bofors to "defame" the Gandhi family.
