Even the other feature, the voice message recording lock is beneficial as it does not require the users to continue holding the record button to record a voice message.
This feature is only for the iOS users at the moment and will soon be launching for Android versions as well. On upgrading out iPhone to the latest version, we didn't get the feature yet.
Meanwhile, reports are also such that WhatsApps is preparing to bring another feature with which a user will be able to switch between voice and video calls simultaneously. However, Android has finally caught up and it made things easier for them. WhatsApp was extensively working on this idea and investigating ways to make watching YouTube videos within its chat-app.
Instead the video appears with a floating window on the screen so users can message friends and watch videos simultaneously.
Earlier, when users clicked on the link, the YouTube video would open in YouTube app installed on the smartphones. Besides, phones that have limited RAM and older processors may not be powerful enough to handle multiple actions at once and will painfully slow down annoying most users to the core. As of now, the users have to keep the recording button in chat windows pressed down for recording a voice message, and release it to send the recorded message. According to the changelog of the application listed on Apple's App Store, the new update also lets users lock their voice recording for sending long audio messages easily. With this feature, you can lock the recording, so that you can leave the record button. The app has been programmed to provide a smooth experience for watching videos and is said to use very little data so you don't end up waiting for the YouTube Go videos to buffer all the time. This new feature implemented in WhatsApp uses the Picture in Picture concept to view YouTube videos without opening it.
