The two City stars were influential in City's 13th consecutive Premier League victory in the 2-1 triumph over West Ham, which saw De Bruyne assist Silva's 83rd minute victor to help open up an eight point advantage at the top of the Premier League.

City will make the short journey to Old Trafford on Sunday to face their arch-rivals, who are now one place behind and eight points behind them in the league.

After some emphatic wins in the autumn, City have been finding the going tougher recently with West Ham the latest team to take Pep Guardiola's side to the wire.

"We want to do what we always do - try to play our style, put them under pressure and see where it goes from there", the Belgian said. "It is phenomenal but obviously we want to win in the end".

Next up for City is the UEFA Champions League Group F clash against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday before they lock horns with bitter rivals Manchester United, who are second in the English top flight. "I think the character has shown in the last game".

'Now I mentioned City's greatest ever players, all the City fans may say Colin Bell, I don't know but in David Silva, he is the greatest City one.

De Bruyne will definitely not feature having incurred a suspension.

'David Silva wants the ball and plays the same way against any team. I am so pleased to see them playing that well.

'We'll play the same there, ' said de Bruyne. "I wish them all the best and hope they can win a lot of trophies".

"Obviously it's more hard when the other team has 11 behind the ball".
