Christmas parades daily Thursday through Monday

Electric light parades will entertain Texas Panhandle towns starting tonight in downtown Amarillo

"Shinnston has always loved celebrating Christmas".

Santa is expected to arrive on a fire truck around 5 p.m. and Mayor Richard J. Kos will flip the switch to turn on the lights on the Christmas tree and other decorations in front of City Hall shortly after his arrival.

Judging will take place on the night of Friday, Dec. 1.

And then don't forget the annual Christmas Luminary at Spotsylvania Courthouse at 4:45 p.m. Sunday. There will be no parking along the parade route and on some adjacent side streets beginning at 2 p.m. on the day of the parade.

Decatur's "Christmas in Toyland" parade will roll through downtown's Second Avenue and Bank Street on Monday at 6 p.m.

This year's parade starts at 6pm on Saturday, December 2 on Riverside Dr. W just west of Bridge Ave. and continues westward to Brock St.in Sandwich Towne. - The parade starts at Breckinridge Elementary School and winds through Historic Fincastle (townoffincastle.org; 473-2200).

The Tyler Rotary Club's Christmas parade kicks off at 6 p.m. followed by the 34th annual Christmas tree lighting celebration.

In conjunction with the parade, Main Street will sponsor a window decorating contest for merchants and businesses.
