T'was a very minor surgery and now getting ready to unify my belt with McNuggets in the first [quarter] of the year (March - April), as recovery is going great!

"So, if he applied, I would see no reason why we wouldn't license him". The UFC President says that if Pacquiao's people have started negotiating with the lightweight champion, then a legal battle may be heading their way.

Pacquiao's last appearance in the ring came earlier this year to Australian Jeff Horn - who sprung a surprise points upset on the Filipino boxing icon to capture the WBO welterweight world title.

Dana White, the UFC chief said over the weekend former eighth-time world champion Manny Pacquiao could not negotiate a fight with Conor McGregor since the mixed martial arts star is under contract with the UFC.

Asked if he had already approached McGregor's handlers for such a fight, Pacquiao told AFP, "initially, but we have not yet had any follow-up conversations". Although McGregor lost, he remains a huge crossover star with massive earning potential against just about any boxer.

McGregor hasn't expressed any interest to fight anyone in the boxing ring after his 10th round loss to Floyd Mayweather in August.

There's no question that the UFC would like to have Diaz back in the cage, but more than a year removed from UFC 202, there doesn't seem to be any progress on that front.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that McGregor's next fight would indeed be with UFC.

"No, that would be weird cause he's under contract with us", he said. "If that's true, I will be suing Manny Pacquiao and whoever's representing him, so I'm assuming that's not true".

However, White has been known in the past to bow to McGregor's demands and hence the UFC middleweight unification fight is not guaranteed.

The UFC has been in discussions with McGregor regarding a new deal.
