Fast food chain celebrating California's pot legalization with 'Munchie Meal'

Jack in the Box Partners with MERRY JANE to Launch the MERRY Munchie Meal!

Jack in the Box Tests Munchie Meals for California Pot Smokers

Think of it as a grown-up McDonald's Happy Meal, featuring curly fries, onion rings, tacos, mini churros, chicken strips and a drink.

The munchie meal will be offered from January 18 to 25 and is part of a partnership with cannabis lifestyle website Merry Jane - which is backed by Snoop Dogg. The meal will only be available in three locations in Long Beach, CA, Snoop Dogg's hometown, from January 18th to the 25th. The price is $4.20 - which commemorates April 20, or 4/20, better known as marijuana's holiday. The plethora of greasy items is meant to alleviate that famous pot smoker indecision.

In November 2016, California voters approved to legalize sales of recreational marijuana for adults starting Monday, the beginning of the new year. However, Long Beach is a somewhat unusual choice for the launch, seeing that the city now has a 180-day moratorium on the sale of recreational marijuana.

"Launching the Merry Munchie Meal is the flawless way for both companies to celebrate legalization in our shared home state of California", Scott Chung, COO of Merry Jane said in a statement. Representatives of Merry Jane declined to be interviewed about the partnership.

Some fast food chains may be on the run from their depiction as stoner food, but Jack In The Box is embracing it! Founded in 1951, Jack in the Box now has more than 2,200 restaurants in 21 states and Guam.
