Google cracks down on apps with shady lock screen ads

DressCode Android malware spotted in over 40 Google Play Store apps and 400 apps on third-party app stores

Google Says Apps Can No Longer Put Ads on Your Lock Screen

Restricting your background mobile data actually can be a problem as apps that require mobile data cannot refresh their content unless the app is manually launched and refreshed.

Datally is an upgraded version Google's Triangle app, which was released on an experimental basis in Philippines in June 2017.

Through an update to the Google Play Policy Center, Google revealed it is banning apps from its store that introduce ads to a handset's lock screen.

The application will help you understand, control and save on mobile data. After you open the app, the top half shows you the data usage of the day. It can also inform users of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots, which in turn will help users save data.

Extensive user research revealed that many smartphone users worry about running out of data. By clicking on the bubble, the user can also easily block the app's data use especially when it is not in use.

The Datally app takes about 6MB of space, so it's easy on your phone's storage. You will be prompted to enable connection request by blocking data using VPN.

Once you're connected to a network, don't forget to rate it to help others in the Datally community find great Wi-Fi.

The main screen of Datally shows you how much of data you've used today.

While other finance apps boasted of one of a kind features, Google Finance only provided the basic functionalities. Having a separate app would help you in setting up restrictions for data usage as well. What's more, blocking certain apps from accessing data in the background will also restrict them from interacting with you via updates and notifications. Of course, a lot of other apps have the same functions so it has become redundant in a way. Presumably, you know what you're getting when you install a lock screen app.

The data usage metrics integrated into the Datally app helps you to learn about the data usage, history including trends separated by either time or by each app.
